THEMATIC POZNAŃ

These tours are recommended to people who want to get deeper knowledge of Poznan traditions. For school trips every single route can be supplemented with a quiz including awards.
We can design different customized thematic routes, topics can include: theatrical or musical traditions, famous citizens of Poznan, educational traditions etc.
Estimated time of route preparation is around 2 weeks.

Poznań legends (approx. 2–2.5h)
• Przemysl Hill: how the Devil bore the hill, about the ghost of Princess Ludgarda
• Old Market: the famous goats, the trumpet call, ‘hejnal’, from the City Hall tower and Saint Martin's croissants
• Post-Jesuit Collegiate Parish Church: the Jesuits and cattle hides, the Black Lady of the Parish Church

The traces of the beginning of the Polish state (approx. 2-2,5h)
• Ostrów Tumski with a tour of the Cathedral: relics of the graves of the First Piasts, the Golden Chapel, the sword of St Peter, the Royal Chapel
• Psalter
• Bishop Jordan's Bridge
• Genius Loci – archaeological reserve showing the remains of the defensive walls from the time of Mieszko I*

*prices do not include entry tickets; excursion without entrance to Genius Loci is completed in 2h.

Architectural style route of chosen style (approx. 2h)
• Gothic style – Ostrów Tumski: Church of the Virgin Mary, Cathedral; or near the Old Market: Jesuit church, the town walls, Katarzynki – rail and tram festival, chosen tenements – through the Market and in the streets, Parish presbytery
• Renaissance style: City Hall, City Weighing Scale, chosen tenements by the market and in the streets, the Górka Palace
• Baroque style: Franciscan church, the Parish Church and post-Jesuit complex, the statue of Saint John Nepomucene, chosen tenements by the market and on the streets.
• Poznań Art Nouveau (approx. 2.5-3h): ul. Roosvelta, ul. Mickiewicza, ul. Słowackiego,
ul. Matejki to Plac Wyspiańskiego, Park Wilsona (possibly to Palmiarnia)

Possible additional costs: ticket to Palmiarnia (5.5 PLN /person)

Footsteps of the Bambergers (approx. 3h)
• Bamber Museum
• Bamber Monument
• Bamber buildings and farmsteads
• Opportunity of completing the expedition in a Bamberg-themed restaurant

Additional costs: in the Museum it is custom to offer a modest donation payment to the box; as the majority of the Bamberg buildings are along Dąbrowskiego Street, we suggest buying a MPK 2×10 minutes ticket.

• Cytadela – burial place of some of the protest victims

Additional costs: ticket to the museum (4 PLN), 2 city bus/tram tickets (40 minutes)

Memorial sites of World War II (approx. 4 h)
• Old riverbed of the River Warta and the greatest diversion operation during World War II
• Cytadela and its cemeteries
• Saint Wojciech's Hill
• Mielżyńskiego street
• Imperial Palace and Collegium Maius
• Fort VII (first concentration camp on Polish soil)

* the route may be extended with a visit to Żabikowo
